Digital Defense: Skopje Launches Cybersecurity Training Center for Public Staff
The new regional center focuses on practical incident response for IT staff in municipalities, health systems, and public utilities.
Skopje has officially inaugurated a new regional Cybersecurity Training Center, aimed at strengthening the digital resilience of public institutions across the Western Balkans. The center’s curriculum moves beyond abstract certifications, focusing instead on practical incident response and "hands-on" defense strategies against emerging cyber threats. IT staff from municipalities and health systems are receiving specialized training.
The facility is equipped with a state-of-the-art "Cyber Range"—a simulated environment where teams can practice defending against real-world attack scenarios without risking live systems. This proactive approach is vital as more public services move online. The center also fosters regional collaboration, allowing experts to share data on emerging threats and coordinate their defense efforts in real-time.
As the first cohorts begin their training, officials highlighted that cybersecurity is a cornerstone of national sovereignty in the 21st century. By investing in professional development, the region is ensuring that its public services remain secure and trustworthy for all citizens. The center is expected to become a key regional hub for technological safety and expertise.
