Preserving Heritage: 700 Million Dinars to Modernize 120-Year-Old School

The state has committed massive funding to transform a ruined educational landmark in Gajdobra into a state-of-the-art learning facility.

The primary school in the village of Gajdobra, a structure with over 120 years of history, is set for a total architectural rebirth. The Serbian government has officially allocated over 700 million dinars for its comprehensive reconstruction. This project is designed to preserve the iconic 19th-century facade while gutting the interior to install digital laboratories, high-speed connectivity, and modern heating systems.

Architects and local officials emphasize that this investment is more than a repair effort; it is a strategic move to bring rural education in line with global urban standards. By providing students in smaller villages with the same resources found in major cities, the initiative seeks to curb rural depopulation and support the intellectual growth of the next generation.

The school will also feature expanded communal spaces and new sports courts, serving as a cultural anchor for the entire Gajdobra community.
