Serbia Launches Digital Platform to Promote Rural Tourism

The Ministry of Tourism has presented a new digital platform called 'Villages of Serbia' to connect rural households, local producers and tourist guides in a single online space.

BELGRADE — The Ministry of Tourism and Youth of Serbia has presented the digital platform 'Sela Srbije' (Villages of Serbia) with the aim of promoting the tourist offer of the country's rural areas.

The presentation took place at the Palace of Serbia in front of representatives of local tourism organizations. The platform is designed to bring together tourist guides, local producers, gastronomy establishments and rural accommodations in a single space.

The ministry highlighted that digitalization is a key tool for improving the promotion of Serbia's tourist offer. The platform allows visitors to discover authentic experiences outside conventional tourist circuits and connect directly with local hosts.

Official data indicates that visits to rural households have increased by 50% in the last year, reflecting a growing interest in rural tourism. Currently, there are 712 registered rural households in the system.

The 'Villages of Serbia' platform joins other existing initiatives in the field of rural tourism, such as the Panacomp network, which covers more than 300 selected accommodations, and private projects like Mokrin House, which has turned a village in Vojvodina into a destination for digital nomads.

The ministry has stated that the platform is a first step to strengthen the sector and that they will continue working on the development of infrastructure and training programs for rural hosts.

The initiative is part of the Serbian government's strategy to diversify the country's tourist offer and promote a more balanced development between urban and rural areas.
